Jane Bulcken King, died April 9, 2020 after a long illness.

She was born December 31, 1923, the only child of Meta and Edward Bulcken. After graduating from Savannah High School she attended Armstrong College. She left Armstrong at the outbreak of World War II and worked with the Corps of Engineers at Chatham Army Airfield, which is now the Savannah Airport. After the war, she taught horseback riding and later opened her own riding school at the family farm on DeRenne Avenue, now the location of Jenkins High School. In the summers, she took her horses to camps in North Carolina and oversaw the riding programs. She went on to raise and show horses for many years until she was unable to ride. Because of her love for animals, she was one of the founding organizers of the Humane Society of Savannah.

She is survived by her two sons, Frank Hamlin McNeal, Jr. (Melly McNeal), and William Burton McNeal II (Patricia McNeal); three grandchildren, Christina McNeal, William Burton McNeal III, and Jane Randolph Saunders; stepson, Harry Lang King, Jr.; step-daughters, Margaret King and Betty Reiter; eight step-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

With concern for the safety and health of our family and friends, interment will be private.

Remembrances: The Humane Society for Greater Savannah – 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406-3922
